Can a dissertation become a bestseller? (Dr. Jess says yes!)

Hi Reader,

I’m excited to share my latest podcast episode with you! I recently sat down with Dr. Jessica Schloemp (Dr. Jess), author of The Leader Within Her, for a conversation that is equal parts inspiring and practical.

Have you ever looked at a massive project you’ve completed and wondered, “Is there more I can do with this?” Jessica did exactly that. She took her doctoral dissertation on strategic leadership and, with the help of a great community and a bit of grit, turned it into a science-backed book that empowers women to lead authentically.

In this episode, we explore:

• How to turn “educational” writing into “useful and practical” bite-sized chunks for readers.

• The difference between a “manager” and a “leader” in a corporate setting.

• Why leadership is a skill you can learn and repeat, even if you weren’t “born” with it.

• The 6 innate superpowers women can use to influence and impact their teams.

• The reality of the self-publishing journey—from cover design to recording your own audiobook.

One of my favorite quotes from our conversation was: “If you don’t put out what you want to accomplish out into the world, the likelihood of you accomplishing it is minute.” Jessica’s journey is proof that when you voice your goals, the universe (and the right editors!) tends to show up.
