AI book disasters and the secret to better leadership

Hi Reader,

I’m excited to share my latest podcast episode with you! I recently sat down with Dr. Melissa Robinson-Winemiller, author of The Empathic Leader: How EQ Via Empathy Transforms Leadership for Better Profit, Productivity, and Innovation, for a conversation that was both deeply personal and incredibly practical.

Have you ever felt like you were “doing all the things” as a leader but still missing a connection with your team? Or perhaps you’re an aspiring author who is terrified of the publishing process? Dr. Melissa has been through it all—including having her book stolen just one month after publication!

In this episode, we explore:

• Why empathy is about “perspective-taking,” not just “feeling.”

• The four-step iterative process for self-empathy and self-observation.

• Why Dr. Melissa fired her first two publishers (one tried to use AI to write her book!).

• The importance of copyright and how it saved her work from being stolen on Amazon.

• Her experience recording her own audiobook to maintain authenticity.

One of my favorite moments was when Dr. Melissa said: “If you haven’t taken the time to connect and understand… you don’t know if you’re going in for a hammer or a left-handed screwdriver.” It’s such a great reminder that empathy is the foundation for every other leadership tool we use.

If your subconscious thinks your goal is “unsafe,” it will trigger procrastination to protect you. In this episode, we...
